The team of four are being creative with their fundraising efforts by each completing a different activity on Sunday 26 April 2020 which would have been the date of the 40th London Marathon. Each activity has been chosen with government guidance on social distancing and safe exercise in mind.
One member of the team will be completing a 2.6-mile bike ride while another will test their stamina on the trampoline. Mum of two, and newest recruit, Mia will be donning her goal shooter bib and testing her patience to shoot 26 netball goals throughout the day. Company founder and director, Natalie Sherman, will be tackling the terrain locally and hill-climbing for 26 minutes.
Natalie said: “Like many charities across the UK, Julia’s House has been hugely impacted by the cancellation of hundreds of fundraising events due to COVID-19 and we really want to help. As a business, we’re driven by impact and purpose and these are all values that my team possesses, making this a very easy and enjoyable initiative to sign up to. Having completed the London Marathon myself in 2014 I know how disappointed those ready to run this year’s event would have been, even though it was absolutely the right thing to postpone it.
I’m looking forward to stretching my legs on Sunday. I know a great place that’s within walking distance to where I live, where the terrain is really challenging but it’s also tucked out of the way, meaning I can complete the task while adhering to social distancing measures.”
